Autoload Information

Autoload is the fastest, easiest way to make sure you always have value on your TransLink card. Autoload allows you to set up your card online to automatically add e-cash value or load transit passes. TransLink will charge your credit card or debit your checking account on an ongoing basis, either when a card's e-cash balance drops below $10 or when a transit pass expires. If you set up Autoload when you request your TransLink card, your card will be free (the card regularly costs $5).

Here are some tips for setting up Autoload:

  • When you first set up Autoload using a credit card, it may take up to 72 hours for your new Autoload set-up to take effect. If you use a bank account, it may take 5 to 10 business days.
  • Once your Autoload is set up, the value you designated will appear the first time you tag your card to a card reader, so you don't need to add separate "start up" e-cash or transit pass value.
  • If you set up Autoload for e-cash, your credit card or bank account will not be charged until the first time you tag your TransLink card.
  • If you set up Autoload for a transit pass at the same time you order a new TransLink card, your credit card or bank account will not be charged until you tag your card the first time.
  • If you already have a TransLink card but want to set up Autoload for a transit pass, your credit card or bank account will be charged when you first set up Autoload; however, your My TransLink account will not reflect your Autoload set-up until after you tag your TransLink card for the first time.
  • New passes do not necessarily load the first day after an old pass expires – after the first pass, all passes loaded through Autoload will be effective the first day you tag after the old pass expires. In other words, if your pass expires and then you go on vacation for two weeks, your new pass will not go into effect for two weeks.
  • If you use a WageWorks Commuter Card, we suggest setting up Autoload using a regular credit card and simply using your Commuter Card to add value at the beginning of each month. That way, your credit card will only be charged when your benefits expire each month.

If you're ready to set up your Autoload preferences, go to Autoload Set Up. If you already have a My TransLink account, log in to My TransLink and click on Autoload Set Up.
