Senior and Disabled Discount Cards
If you ride AC Transit or Golden Gate Transit and Ferry, TransLink® offers two new ways for seniors and customers with disabilities to obtain fare discounts: the RTC TransLink Card and the Senior Citizen TransLink Card.
RTC TransLink Card
The RTC TransLink Card is a version of TransLink created especially for seniors and passengers with qualifying disabilities. Transit riders currently can use the RTC TransLink Card's special TransLink features to pay their fares on Golden Gate Transit and Ferry. Passengers who use other transit agencies can use the RTC TransLink Card as proof of eligibility for reduced fares.
Seniors and disabled customers of Golden Gate Transit and Ferry will be able to choose how to use their RTC TransLink Card. They can:
- add cash value to their card and use it to pay fares, or
- show the RTC TransLink Card to get a discount when paying with cash.
For information on applying for an RTC TransLink Card, call Whistlestop Wheels at 1-415-456-9062 (Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) or Golden Gate Transit at 1-415-257-4407 (call to make an appointment). The new RTC TransLink Card costs $3.
If you already have an RTC Discount Card, you will automatically receive the new RTC TransLink Card the next time you renew your card. If you receive an RTC TransLink Card from AC Transit or an agency that does not yet accept TransLink for payment, you can use your new card to demonstrate your eligibility for reduced cash fares or a senior/disabled monthly pass or sticker.
For more information about the RTC Discount Card program and eligibility guidelines, please visit 511.org. If you have an RTC TransLink Card, you can learn more about the card's TransLink features by downloading Your RTC TransLink Card.
Senior TransLink Card
Seniors who ride Golden Gate Transit and Ferry can also use a Senior TransLink Card from a Golden Gate Transit and Ferry ticket office. This card is not yet available for other agencies.
To get a card, bring a government-issued photo ID, such as a California Driver License, a California State Identification Card or a passport, to a Golden Gate Transit or Ferry Ticket Office:
- Golden Gate Ferry Terminal, behind the Ferry Building at the foot of Market St., San Francisco
- Larkspur Ferry Terminal, 101 Sir Francis Drake Blvd., Larkspur
- San Rafael Administration Building, 1011 Andersen Dr., Rafael (weekdays only)
The TransLink Senior Citizen Card costs $5.
