AC Transit's adult, senior and disabled riders can now pay their fares with TransLink. Fares can be paid with e-cash, a 31-Day pass (local and Transbay) or, for RTC cardholders, a monthly discounted pass. For a complete list of fares and pass prices, please visit actransit.org.

If you have a 31-Day local pass or an RTC monthly discounted pass and would like to take a Transbay trip, you will need to have e-cash on your card to pay the difference between the local and Transbay fare. The TransLink system will automatically calculate the fare difference and deduct it from the e-cash value on your TransLink card. Please see the FAQ for more information about using your TransLink card for a Transbay trip.

Transfers

Customers can transfer to AC Transit Local service from BART within 2.5 hours of exiting the BART system and receive a $0.25 discount on the AC Transit cash fare. When transferring to AC Transit Local route 74 from the Orinda BART station within 2.5 hours of exiting the BART system, your transfer is free. If cardholders transfer to a second AC Transit Local bus, the AC Transit transfer rules for local rides are applied. Cardholders are also entitled to a second $0.25 discount on the AC Transit cash fare (or another free transfer on AC Transit Local route 74 back to the Orinda BART station) within 72 hours of exiting the BART system.

For seniors and persons with disabilities:

Senior and disabled passengers with a Regional Transit Connection (RTC) TransLink Card can now use the TransLink features of their card to pay their fares on AC Transit. If your RTC card has a square gold "chip" on the front of the card, like the one below, than it is an RTC TransLink Card and you can choose to take advantage of TransLink's features immediately OR you can continue purchasing monthly stickers and use the card as you do now.

RTC Card

If your RTC Discount Card does not look like an RTC TransLink Card, you can bring it to the AC Transit ticket office in Oakland and exchange it for free. The discounts you receive will stay the same, and you'll have all the convenient features of the TransLink card. You will have to fill out a card exchange form and have your photo taken. When your RTC TransLink Card is ready, you'll pick it up at the ticket office and turn in the RTC Discount Card you've been using.

Eligible passengers with disabilities and seniors requiring a photo identification are invited to apply for an RTC TransLink Card to receive discounted fares on AC Transit and other Bay Area transit agencies. Passengers can obtain an application by calling AC Transit's Oakland ticket office at 510-891-4706 (TDD 510-428-2266) and submitting it in person (1600 Franklin Street, Oakland). The fee for a new card is $3.
